Wiko Jimmy

Wiko brings us another affordable Android smartphone. The new Wiko Jimmy costs just 100 euros, but in return offers all the necessary functions such as taking pictures, downloading applications, using navigation services, browse the Internet or connect to social networks.

It is a compact and manageable mobile device, with a youthful design made of durable plastic. It comes with a 5-megapixel camera, quad-core processor, and 4GB of memory, expandable with MicroSD. A simple phone, very economical. Take a look at all the details about in this Wiko Jimmy review.

The Wiko Jimmy adopts pleasing proportions with its 4.5-inch screen with reasonably sized edges. The Wiko Jimmy smartphone features a relatively slim body (9.8 mm) and back available in five different colors, which gives it a nice look. Little extra stylistic touch is the Wiko Jimmy’s circled colored edging.

Regarding equipment, the Wiko Jimmy comprises Dual SIM slots, a MicroSD reader, and a removable battery: despite its small internal memory of 4 GB (2.6 GB available), The Wiko Jimmy meets expectations. However, the Jimmy smartphone by Wiko lacks 4G connectivity; the device is only compatible with 3G mobile networks up to a maximum of 21 Mbit/s.

Wiko Jimmy Display

Wiko has opted for a 4.5-inch screen on this model unlike the 5-inch screen on the Wiko Lenny and other Wiko Smartphones. It is compact, yet broad enough that we can handle it with ease and see the images clearly. The panel type is TFT and has FWVGA resolution, equivalent to 854 x 480 pixels. The screen density is 217 dots per inch and has a depth of 16 million colors.

Design

The Wiko Jimmy comes in white or black color. The two have a line around the entire device, a detail that makes it more conspicuous. The white model has the red line, while the black is light blue. It has rounded corners, and you can handle it with one hand without difficulty. It measures 133.5 x 66.5 x 9.8 mm and weighs 145 grams.

Wiko Jimmy Camera

The Wiko Jimmy has a relatively simple camera. The main one, located at the rear, has a 5-megapixel resolution and fixed focus. The images are broad enough to see them on a large screen size, but the focusing system will not allow us to concentrate on the objects photographed. What it does have is a LED flash, useful when taking pictures in low light.

It includes more features like face and smile detection, HDR mode, four digital zoom magnification, color effects, white balance and image editor. It also records video and does so in 720p HD resolution. The front camera has 0.3 megapixels, so we cannot expect to make a video call or get a selfie with excellent quality.

Multimedia

The device supports a good range of multimedia formats, to avoid problems when viewing a picture, play a video or to listen to a song. It carries an integrated FM tuner and improved sound (3D). Also included is a media player with album art display and a system of dictation and voice recording.

Performance/Power

The Wiko Jimmy has a quad core processor. Specifically, Cortex A7 that runs at 1.3 GHz clock frequency. The Wiko Jimmy runs on 512 MB of RAM, a slightly adjusted figure. However, the operating system is optimized to run on devices with limited configuration.

As expected, the Wiko Jimmy is not a powerhouse. The Wiko Jimmy’s modest quad-core processor of 1.3 GHz works alongside 512MB of RAM. Navigation appears fluid enough that the Jimmy remains comfortably usable. However, better not go overboard with the multitasking less you run into RAM problems.

Memory/Storage

The internal memory is also very tight. It has a storage capacity of 4 GB, but after factoring in the system and applications, there will be about 2 GB available. In such a case it becomes almost mandatory to buy a MicroSD card for additional data storage. The Wiko Jimmy accepts drives up to 32 additional GBs.

Operating System

The Wiko Jimmy comes standard with Android 4.4 KitKat, a delivery that, as mentioned, is optimized for smooth performance on the most basic phones. The handset comes with Google apps package installed.

Applications

Just add a Google account to sync features like Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Drive, or even YouTube. The Wiko Jimmy also includes many widgets for use on the home screen. Clocks, power control, quick adjustments, Facebook updates and more. You can get more applications from the Google Play Store, which already has over 1.3 million apps and games.

Connectivity

The Jimmy Wiko connects to the Internet via 3G mobile networks at a maximum speed of 21 Mbps downlink and up to 5.76 Mbps upload. The Wi-Fi Hotspot system creates a Wi-Fi network from the mobile connection, which can connect to your computer, tablet or another smartphone. The Wiko Jimmy also has Wi-Fi, offering faster speed. It includes Bluetooth 4.0, GPS antenna, a headphone jack and MicroUSB connector for charging or transferring data.

Wiko Jimmy Battery

The battery capacity is 1,700 milliamp. Official figures indicate that it may be on a single charge up to 230 hours in standby mode. The device, when in use will be 17 hours with 2G connection and on 3G up to 10 hours.

Wiko Jimmy Unboxing

Wiko has released a few new handsets this quarter including the Wiko Goa and the Wiko Birdy.  Both of which offer a bit more memory and storage than the Wiko Jimmy. You can continue to watch a full hands-on video review of the Wiko Jimmy on below.

Price

The Wiko Jimmy price sits at 100 euros.

Wiko Jimmy Review

The new Wiko Jimmy costs just 100 euros, but in return offers all the necessary functions such as taking pictures, downloading applications, using navigation services, browse the Internet or connect to social networks. However, despite its affordable price and a rather successful design, Wiko Jimmy lacks appeal. Devoid of 4G connectivity, it is penalized by its low-resolution screen, outdated technology, and poor performance and endurance. Source/Images Via|Wiko Jimmy GSM Arena, Wiko Jimmy Official Website
