Wiko Lenny

The Wiko Lenny is a smartphone with a screen of 5 inches and a set of specifications to meet the simple tasks of everyday life, with a reduced price of just 100 euros. It is the predecessor of the Wiko Lenny 2 and among its main attractions are the use of the Android 4.4 KitKat operating system, which will greatly improve fluency when using the menus in this device. In addition, it also introduces a dual SIM card slot. All this with a dual-core processor, an internal memory of 4 GB expandable with MicroSD cards up to 32 GB, a stellar design, available in black or classic white and a battery able to withstand a whole day. Here are all the details on the Wiko Lenny smartphone and our Wiko Lenny review.

Display

The Wiko Lenny is equipped with a five inches screen, the usual size for the most advanced Android smartphones. However, in this case we have a basic device, so the resolution stays at 854 x 480 pixels and a density of 196 dpi. This is enough to display menus and games and simple applications, but that can fall rather short when watching videos in high quality and games that require a higher level of detail.

Design

The Wiko Lenny design is quite simple and elegant. The device has the rounded corners and the frame around the device is flat and has a glossy finish. The screen area is separated from the housing by side frames protruding slightly, which brings a small differential touch. It is a large device and its thickness is 9.6 mm, and the weight, up to 174 grams.

The full dimensions are 14.3 x 7.3 x 9.6 mm. The Lenny comes in white and in black. In the back we can see the brand logo embossed. This is a somewhat heavier than what we’re used to seeing in recent releases of Wiko Smartphones but it is still a form fitting and comfortable smartphone.

Camera

The Wiko Lenny is also quite simple in the camera department, while still not lack anything. The main camera has five megapixels of resolution, which is enough to get quite large photos and then watch them on a larger screen or print them.

Wiko has also incorporated a LED flash next to the camera, which is a key to take pictures at night or in low light. It also has autofocus, face and smile detection, digital zoom, image editor, color effects and white balance. Regarding video, the Wiko Lenny records video up to HD 720p and finally we emphasize that it features a front camera of 1.3 megapixels.

Wiko Lenny

While not the best camera on a smartphone in terms of selfie capabilities, it does allow for passable Skype video calls. The rear camera’s quality should satisfy the need for non-self portraits.

Multimedia

The multimedia profile of  the Lenny has no significant changes compared to other models (See: Wiko Jimmy, Wiko Rainbow or Wiko Bloom). The terminal supports the formats most common multimedia, takes dictation and voice recording, player integratedFM radio and sound 3D .

Processor

Inside the Wiko Lenny is a processor quad core processor, namely a Cortex A7 running at 1.3 GHz frequency. No data on the graphics processor, but we do know that the RAM (memory ) is 512 MB. With regard to the internal storage, the  Wiko Lenny has a storage of 4 GB, of which about half will be free due to the space occupied by the system. With so little space it will be almost obligatory to purchase a MicroSD memory card (32 GB maximum).

Memory

The RAM is also quite tight, as mentioned above, it is 512 MB bu,t Lenny Wiko has Android 4.4 KitKat, a version that is, in addition to all its innovations, ready to run smoothly on smartphones with more basic features. On the other hand, Android 4.4 KitKat has new features such as caller ID, the joining of SMS and Hangouts and some changes in the interface design. In other words, KitKat is optimized to run on low end smartphones like the Lenny.

Connectivity

The Wiko Lenny has the standard HSPA connection, i.e, it can be connected to 3G mobile networks up to to 21 Mbps, an average speed that will allow you to navigate with relative ease. You can also connect via WiFi and thus enjoy a much faster speed and incidentally save mobile data.

The Wiko Lenny also has a GPS antenna, Bluetooth 4.0WiFi Hotspot, to create a WiFi area, MicroUSB and headphones connector. Just as the other models in the Wiko range, the Wiko Lenny lets you insert two SIM cards simultaneously in order to carry two phone numbers everywhere and not have to carry two phones.

Battery

Finaly. the battery, the last point but no less important. The Wiko Lenny integrates a lithium battery of 1,800 milliamps, a capacity adjusted to take into account that the device has a display of five inches. In any case Wiko indicates that the device can be switched on 16 hours on 2G talk time, 8.5 hours 3G talk time and up to 336 hours at rest.

Review

As  said before, the intention of the Wiko Lenny is very clear,  it is a simple and very economical smartphone, that does not sacrifice the visual experience that a big screen offers, in this case five inches. The technical profile is somewhat tight, especially in places such as the screen resolution and internal memory. The Wiko Lenny has an interesting design, carries a camera , quad-core processor and has installed Android 4.4 KitKat standard. The price is best of all as this model costs just 100 euros.

Pros Cons
  • Runs Android 4.4 KitKat
  • The presence of a dual SIM card slot
  • Its economical price of 100 euros
  • Memory 512 MB RAM will fall short when we have several applications open
  • Its resolution is not the best to display videos in high quality
  • No 4G
