Samsung Galaxy S7: Set Camera to Save to Memory or SD Card

How to set the camera to save pictures to the memory card or SD card on a Samsung Galaxy S7? By default, the Galaxy S7 saves new pictures and video recordings to the internal storage. Of course, users can choose to save items to the internal memory of the Galaxy S7 or the SD card by using a setting within the Camera app. This guide teaches you how to set up your Galaxy S7 so that it will save ALL new pictures you take –directly to the SD card.

Things to Consider

If you use Pro mode, the photos all go to the internal storage even though in settings you’ve selected SD card. Can you change this? Raw files are large and you probably don’t want them on your Galaxy S7’s internal memory.

The short answer is, no, at the moment, there is no way to save raw files captured in pro mode automatically to sd card. You have to manually move these files to the sd card.

Save Pictures & Videos to External Storage on Galaxy S7

  1. Open the “Camera” app.
  2. Select the settings gear icon located at the upper-left corner of the screen.
  3. Scroll down and tap “Storage location“.
  4. Select “Phone” or “SD card” as desired.
