Wiko Rainbow

The Wiko Rainbow is low end Android smartphone with a 5 inch screen that features a quad-core processor, an 8 megapixels rear camera and dual SIM capabilities screen. This article provides a Wiko Rainbow description including a brief Wiko Rainbow review at the end.

Wiko Rainbow

Display

The  Rainbow Wiko has a display with IPS technology and is 5 inches in size. This large size will allow for vivid content and an enjoyable multimedia experience. The screen resolution is 1280 x 720 pixels and density sits at 294 ppi, which is not bad. The screen has a sensor that detects ambient brightness so that it automatically adjust the lighting at all times. It also has a proximity sensor that turns off the screen when moving the phone to the ear to make/receive a call.

Design

The Wiko Rainbow smartphone has a fresh design with very striking colors. The range includes coral, turquoise, fuchsia, fluorescent yellow, purple and classic white and black. The housing is made of plastic and covers the entire back and sides of the device, located on the edge are the volume control and power buttons buttons of the same color as well as the headphone port. The handset measures 146 x 74 x 9.3 mm and weighs 163 grams, normal for a model with a 5-inch screen, although they could have tweaked the measurements  a bit to lighten the device as a whole.

Wiko Rainbow

Camera

Wiko has included an eight megapixels camera on the back with OmniBSI technology. The BSI or Backside Illumination sensors are constructed so that there are fewer layers between the lens and the photosensitive part, so they get more light and get better results in dark environments. However there will be occasions when it is necessary to use the flash LED integrated with the camera. This is one of the good cameras compared to other smartphones.

It has some interesting features like the magic camera, which includes an eraser and a function to create animated pictures (GIF). It also has auto focus, smile detection, HDR mode, portrait (Beauty Face), digital zoom, picture editor, color effects and it allows you to change the white balance. For recording video, it records up to FullHD quality, and also has a front camera of 2-megapixels for video calls or selfies.

Multimedia

The  Wiko Rainbow has a very complete multimedia profile from the point of view of the formats supported, and in addition, it also supports FM radio, 3D sound and voice dictation.

Wiko Rainbow

Power

As per usual, Wiko Smartphones usually incorporate quad-core processors on low-end handsets. In the case of the Wiko Rainbow, it is a Cortex A7 chip running at 1.3 GHZ coupled with 1 GB of RAM. This is enough, on both ends, to perform common task easily, although some applications, such as games with complex graphics, will slow down the smartphone.

Memory

The internal memory is often the Achilles heel of the most affordable smartphones and this is not so much a priority in low-end smartphones. The Wiko Rainbow smartphone has an internal storage of 4 GB, of which about half will be free. There is not much you can do with a memory of about 2 Gb, so buying a MicroSD card is almost mandatory if you want to store photos, videos, applications or other files.

Wiko Rainbow

Connectivity

The connections are a key point in any smartphone because without them it would be impossible to execute such basic tasks as checking Facebook, share a photo on Instagram or find an address. The Wiko Rainbow has the necessary connectivity to carry out any of these tasks. The mobile device connects to the Internet via 3G mobile networks, but at a maximum speed of 21 Mbps, which is not bad but it is far from the latest generation of mobile networks.

It is also compatible with WiFi networks and allows us to share the connection with other devices with the feature known as WiFi Hotspot. It also uses Bluetooth 4.0, a GPS antenna, MicroUSB port and headphones jack. And, lets not forget that the Wiko Rainbow has a dual SIM slot that uses Micro SIM.

Battery

The smartphone is equipped with a 2,000 milliamp battery with a stand by time of up to 260 h (2G) / up to 260 h (3G)and a talk time of up to 16 h (2G) / up to 10 h 30 min (3G). With 5 inches for the display, you can expect about a day maximum on normal use.

Review

Wiko retains the concept of an affordable smartphone with interesting features with the Wiko Rainbow, an attractive mid-range device. For 160 euros, customers can get a smartphone with a wide screen, 8 megapixel camera, dual SIM capabilities and quite an attractive design with bright colors.

Do not forget that this is a simple smartphone, with its internal memory of 4 Gb, you won’t be able to store many multimedia files on the device. The Wiko Rainbow is ideal for users looking for an inexpensive Android device, but at the same time want to have a series of interesting features.

Interestingly, there are other variants of the Wiko Rainbow that might interest you: The Wiko Rainbow 4G, Wiko Rainbow Jam, Wiko Rainbow Up are all upgraded and build on the capabilities of the original Wiko Rainbow.
