Description

The Samsung Galaxy E5 features a 5-inch Super AMOLED 720p screen, a 1.2GHz Snapdragon 410 processor, 1.5GB of RAM, a 8-megapixel main camera, 5-megapixel front-facing cam, 16GB of expandable internal storage space, and a 2,400mAh battery.
The operating system is Android KitKat topped off with the latest Samsung TouchWiz UI. While it shows promise with an average set of specs, the battery capacity is on the lower end with regard to the amount of charge it holds.

Samsung Galaxy E5 Design

The new Samsung SM-E500F comes in at 5.94 x 3.03 x 0.28 inches (151 x 77.2 x 7.3 mm). Slightly smaller and thinner than the Galaxy E7 which is 5.57 x 2.76 x 0.29 inches (141.6 x 70.2 x 7.3 mm). The E5 weighs 4.94 oz (140 g). However, it is not yet known if the smartphone will be water or dust resistant as we’ve seen in some of Samsung’s later models.

Display

The Samsung Galaxy E5 has a 5.0 inches, 720 x 1280 pixels display which means that is slightly smaller than the E7 display which is 5.5 inches in size. However, both devices share the same pixels. Unlike the E7 the Galaxy E5 has a pixel density of 294 ppi and both devices incorporate Super AMOLED technology and include features such as multi touch, a light sensor, and a proximity sensor.

Camera

The Galaxy E5 back facing camera is 8 megapixels which is 5 megapixels below the E7 camera, however both devices have a 5 megapixels front facing camera, perfect for selfies, right? The E5 camera incorporates: Autofocus, Touch to focus, Smile detection (the E7 does not have this feature), and Geo tagging.

Internet browsing

Like many smartphones of today the E5 is capable of accessing the internet via Wi-Fi or data plan. It is equipped with a built in stock browser and other browsers such as Chrome or Firefox can also be installed for further browsing capabilities.

Review

The Samsung Galaxy E5 has Super AMOLED display and trust me, this is where Samsung excels in the market as far as their display tech goes. This display will certainly amaze you at this price point. Screen is still sharp despite being at a low profile of 720p for a 5 inch display and its viewing angles(though they aren't the best in the market) are pretty good. With its other useful and modern features, the Galaxy E7 is a great mid-range smartphone.

Other Features

Notifications: Haptic feedback, Music ringtones (MP3), Polyphonic ringtones, Vibration, Flight mode, Silent mode, Speakerphone

Sensors: Accelerometer

The device is also equipped with GPS, A-GPS, and Glonass.

It also has Voice dialing, Voice commands, and Voice recording features. The smartphone is capable of connecting to wireless networks via Bluetooth technology and Wi-Fi. The device is  also HSPA (unspecified), HSUPA, EDGE, GPRS capable. That’s in addition to its NFC, Tethering, Computer sync, OTA sync capabilities.

One aspect of the E5 that is certainly a plus is that the smartphone is capable of using two SIM cards at once. (Dual SIM enabled). And to wrap up what we’ve said above here are the pros of the Samsung Galaxy E5 smartphone:

Pros

  • Big display (5.0 inches)
  • High-resolution display (720 x 1280 pixels)
  • Dual SIM card support
  • Quad core processor
  • Fast mobile data support (4G)
  • Thin body, measuring less than 7.5mm/0.3inches (0.29 inches)

Samsung Galaxy E5 vs Samsung Galaxy E7

The E7 has

  • Lots of RAM (2048 MB RAM) but
  • Low pixel density screen (267 ppi)

Meanwhile the E5 has Dual SIM card support but a lower facing back camera quality.
