Wiko Goa

Design and Display

The Wiko Goa is a handset designed for people who do not want a first-line smartphone, but a compact phone that fits in your pocket and allows you to access the most common tasks. This idea is reflected in its design, with a slightly curved shape in the corners and the habitual use of three touch buttons on the front to access menus, return to home screen or to move backwards.

One of the few touches in its differential design is the ability to choose between a models that is entirely in black, or you can opt for the model in white which gives a slightly more modern look. The full dimensions of the Wiko Goa are 119 x 62.6 x 11.3 mm and its weight is set at 105 grams. It is not a thin mobile phone but given the size it is pretty easy to handle.

Wiko Goa Side View

In the display field, the company has opted for a TFT panel with a size of 3.5 inches and a simple resolution of 480 x 320 pixels. This resolution yields a density of 164 pip, a sufficient number to enjoy the simpler videos and apps but it is quite limited when it videos or applications that require more powerful graphics.

Camera

It was said that Wiko would not put much into a 60 euros/145 USD phone, but at least the company has maintained two cameras in this model. Specifically, at the back we have a camera with a resolution of 2 megapixels and a digital zoom of four.

More interesting seems the front Camera of the Goa, with a decent resolution of 1.3 megapixels with which we can use videoconferencing applications like Skype and Hangouts.

Memory and Power

On the inside of this smartphone we have an ARM Cortex A-7 dual core 1 GHz processor, which is combined with a RAM of 512MB. Just enough to power apps like Facebook, WhatsApp or YouTube, but it can easily fall short if you have several applications open at the same time. Yes, the fact that this device integrates Android KitKat 4.4 can make an important difference in the field performance (we discussed this topic in the next page).

As for internal memory, it is has a good 4 GB of storage space. If you don’t plan on using it as a storage device for MP3 songs and other media files then the device is capable of meeting all of your basic needs. If you run short, you can insert a Micro SD card of up to 32 GB. You can also draw on some of the online storage services running on the network such as Dropbox or Google Drive. These options offer us free storage space that triples that of the mobile device, so it may be a good option to maximize capacity.

Operating System and Applications

Here we find one of the big news that comes with the Wiko Goa. And that is that this device series includes the latest version of Android 4.4 KitKat, a popular platform from Google. We say great news because this version is designed specifically for those smaller devices and can technically run the system smoothly, something that goes hand in hand with a device like Wiko. In terms of usage, one of the most exciting improvements is the ability to display the cover art for the song you’re listening on the lock screen of the phone.

This mobile will allow us to enjoy a very pure experience of Android, with a few additions specific to the brand. In addition, this platform opens up a portal to over a million different apps for users. Some of the most interesting ones and most used ones that we know of are Facebook and Twitter for your social networks, Telegram or WhatsApp to chat with your friends or Summoners War or Candy Crush Saga if you plan on spending long hours playing games. Besides applications in the store, you also have pre installed apps from Google.

For example, YouTube is a prime candidate for watching videos of a kitten’s life (cat videos are rather popular these days) or videos of your favorite artists. It also highlights Google Maps to find a particular address, or Gmail, to manage our mail from the mobile device. In short, numerous options enable you to customize the phone to your liking with the applications and games that interest you.

Connectivity and Multimedia

In the field of connections, the most notable news is the ability to work with two mobile networks through its various dual SIM card slots. This is a convenience for those users who want to combine more than one number in one place for work use and for personal life, or even for those professionals working in various fields and who carry several devices with them.

As expected, this phone does not support 4G networks but can achieve good speeds up to 21 Mbps on 3G HSDPA networks. At home or via a hotspot we can also connect to the Internet via Wi-Fi. The connections with GPS are used to navigate applications like Maps or Waze and it also has Bluetooth 4.0. With this technology we can exchange files between compatible devices or synchronize your phone with accessories such as wireless speakers for improved audio quality.

Within the field of multimedia, it is noteworthy that this is a very simple phone that is not designed to play video or for watching movies, but that may well serve as MP3 player or a good device to listen to the radio.

Battery

The Wiko Goa incorporates a battery with a capacity of 1,300 milliamps. According to official data from Wiko, this handset should hold out for up to 11.4 hours of talktime on 2G mode and up to 6.2 hours in 3G mode.

If we leave the mobile at rest it should hold out for a maximum of 384 hours. In short, these are not very high numbers but with a more relaxed use of the device you could very well go a day without having to recharge the Goa.

Price

The Wiko Goa is now available on the market for a very demure price of 60 euros.

Review

As stated earlier, this is a phone that is set at a competitive price and has a set of basic specifications that serve to meet the day to day tasks such as chatting or checking email and social media. In addition, the device has two attractions that increases interest, such as the presence of Android 4.4 KitKat and the inclusion of a dual SIM card slot. Sourced/Images Via| 1, Wiko Goa GSM Arena
