How To Fix Error 0x80004005

  • Go to start-> control panel-> Device Manager and open it (Device Manager)
  • In the view menu tick “view hidden devices”
  • Expand the network adapters branch
  • You will see many adapters named Microsoft 6to4
  • Delete them all
  • Restart your PC

Now, go through the steps of creating and renaming your folder. The 0x80004005 error code no longer appears and you are free to use your computer as you normally would. If this isn’t your issue or if it doesn’t work for you then try the next trick.

Error 0x80004005 Virtual Machine Fix

Do you get this error while using a virtual machine? This could be due to an invalid registry key. Do troubleshoot this, use the steps below and you should resolve the issue:

  • First, you need to open the Run dialog box. Do so by pressing the Windows Key and R
  • Ian the dialog box, type Regedit and select OK
  • In the Registry editor, Find the following registry path
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindows NTCurrentVersionAppCompatFlagsLayers] “C:Program FilesOracleVirtualBoxVirtualBox.exe”=”DISABLEUSERCALLBACKEXCEPTION”

Check to see if the key is present or not. If the key exists, you delete it and run the Virtual Machine again. By deleting the registry key, the error should now subside. If not,  continue with the steps below.

Error 0x80004005 Shared Folder Fix

Do you get this error while accessing a shared folder? This could be due to an invalid registry key. Do troubleshoot this, use the steps below and you should resolve the issue:

  • First, you need to open the Run dialog box. Do so by pressing the Windows Key and R
  • Ian the dialog box, type Regedit and select OK
  • In the Registry editor, Find the following registry path
HKLMSOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionPoliciesSystem
  • If you are on a 32 bit Windows system, you need to create a new DWORD value called LocalAccountTokenFilterPolicy.
  • And, if you are on a 64 bit Windows system, make a QWORD (64-bit) called LocalAccountTokenFilterPolicy.
  • In both instances, set the value to numeric 1 (meaning on), and click OK.

Normally, the LocalAccountTokenFilterPolicy remains auto set. However, if it is not, click on it and change the value to 1. Once done, restart your computer and check to verify that you can now access the shared drives.

Error 0x80004005 Zip Fix

Trying to extract a zip folder onto your computer? Do you get the “Error 0x80004005: Unspecified error“whenever you try to extract the contents of the zip file? It usually reads, “An unexpected error is keeping you from copying the file. If you continue to receive this error, you can use the error code to search for help with this problem.” Truth be told, there are certain zip formats that Windows cannot handle and you need to use a third party application to extract your files. To work around this issue, use one of the following methods:

Method 1: Disable Script Blocking in Norton AntiVirus

Method 2: Disable New-Mail notification in Outlook

Note This resolution may help with the issue with new e-mail, but it does not fix the issue with sending e-mail messages.

To disable New-Mail notifications, follow these steps:

  1. In Outlook, click Options on the Tools menu, and then click the Preferences tab.
  2. Click E-mail Options, and then click to clear the Display a notification message when new mail arrives check box.
  3. Click OK two times. Via Microsoft.
