Google today announced a new opportunity for developers on Android Wear: the interactive watch faces, to improve the immediacy and simplicity of working with the Android Wear smartwatch.
As written by the Mountain View company in a dedicated post on the official blog, "Now, with a simple tap, your watch face can change design, reveal more information, or even launch an app." The new watch faces will be under a specific category within the Play Store, and already there are a few other apps under this category such as that of Under Armour that lets you move between various statistics on different fitness apps (steps, calories burned, etc.) with a simple tap on the display.
Another important change is also the launch of an interactive watch face called "Together", created by Google. Through it you can connect your Android Wear to a favorite contact, then you can quickly exchange emoji, photos, activities and even doodles made on the display of smartwatch with it. It seems in fact like a response from the Big G to Apple's Digital Touch technology on the Apple Watch, but for now, it is little more limited with the possibility of using only a single favorite contact.
Google has also said that the updates needed to enable the new watch faces arrives on supported interactive smartwatch during the coming weeks, with what we expect to be Android Wear 1.3 update.
